Laser for the workshop

Laser for the workshop

Apr 28, 2016

We love lasers, and not just because they are bright and shiny. We use laser engravers to cut panel mounting holes or fabricate parts for a multi-layer Microfluidic device. Engravers are accurate, versatile, and easy to work with, and they fill a great niche in our toolbox. Generally called engravers since they’re lower power than their metal-cutting brethren, they can still cut fully through a variety of materials like plastic, wood, rubber, and adhesives.

Until now, we’ve only had access to outside machines. But, we finally have one in-house, a 50 Watt box from Universal Laser. We’ll be building some fun prototypes in the near future, but the first job was to welcome it into the workshop by using it to make its own sign.
