Smart Biomedical Armband: Custom Electronics for Prosthetic Users
We partnered with Infinite Biomedical Technologies (IBT) to help develop a sophisticated multi-electrode armband sensor system that translates electric signals from the muscles into prosthetic actions. Our team tackled the critical challenge of integrating delicate Electromyographic (EMG) sensor electronics with a flexible, wearable form factor. We designed custom flexible interconnects and protective enclosures that would maintain reliable electrical connections while still allowing the armband to stretch and flex to fit varying arm sizes.
Using our in-house prototyping workshop, we developed and tested various silicone and urethane formulations to find the perfect balance of flexibility, durability, and bio-compatibility for housing the electronics. With this project we were able to demonstrate our ability to solve highly complex integration challenges, ensuring electronic components would perform reliably in real-world conditions while meeting strict medical device requirements for user comfort and safety.
